Too early for Visit Brunei 2008?
Another Sunday well spent.
The big bro hired a 22 seaters bus for a trip round Brunei. Present were the whole bunch excluding my bro n bro-in law due to work, grandma, my 3 cousins, my aunt & husband. It was a beautiful Sunday morning. We departed for fun journey around 9.15am or so. The bus was never silent for a minute. It’s so fun! First stop was Penanjong, drop off baby Waiz n nanny. Kesian Waiz he cant join us due to his health. But his spirit was with us during the whole journey until we picked him up later the day. Second stop was a hard decision. CA Mohamad, KK Koya or Chong’s Kuay Teow? Majority won. We chose Chong’s gerai at Tudung Saji. “Sorry boss, Kuay Teow awal sudah abis”. Owhhhhh. All faces turned frustated. But we still had our meal there. I had Kolomee Ayam with Talor Matalembu. *slurps*
The next stop was OGDC. I love this place. Played with the kids at the park. Oh how I love the swing! And the slide. *blush* Then we (over)fed the fish and turtles on the pond. The last part was the exhibition. We had a great time there. Money well spent. Soon after we left OGDC, we headed for Anduki. Nothing much there. We didn’t step out. I was bloated and a l’il bit tired so I slept for a while during the Anduki-PantaiSeriKenangan journey. At the beach, we bought rambutans, tibadaks, fresh young coconut drinks, keropok lekor and kikiks. Our mouth never stopped chewing from the beginning of the journey. That’s our family fyi.
We headed back to Penanjong to pick up Waiz and the nanny. It’s an almost complete family now. All of us then decided to gave my uncle a surprise visit to his home in Lamunin. And yes we did! He & the family was so surprised to see a bus full of people stopping by his compound. And laughed out when I stepped out from the bus, thinking that the bus was lost. We stayed for a long while before we headed home. The ride home was from Lamunin to Jln Batang Mitus to the Sengkurong area.
A few productive conservations were made between me & Irah, mainly on 2 subjects:
1. Bruneians trying so hard to speak Malaysia. All examples are based on true story. Hehehehehe
Eg1: Dek, tolong pass kan sire tu. (correction: garam)
Eg2: Boleh tolong ambikkan size M tak? Size ni tak sedang lah (Correction: tak muat)
Eg3: Kat sini ada jual baju getah ke? (correction: baju T)
Eg4: Bro, tolong ambikkan badak i dalam almari tu (correction: bedak)
Eg5: Kita balik lah lepas ni, I dah ayung dah ni (correction: pening)
Eg6: Eh, tak terasa masa berlalu begitu pantas. Hari dah naik petang ni. (correction: gelap)
Eg7: Masa ni kat Brunei, kitorang suka makan nasi ketuk (correction: nasi katok)
Eg7 is related to the next subject
2. Bruneians being creative
Who says Bruneian are not creative? You are so wrong. During our journey we saw, if not many, a few kasi katok pondoks with a good unique names. And we also did recall some other names. Here it goes.
1. Nasi Katok Mama
2. Nasi Katok Kaka
3. Nasi Katok 3 Rasa
4. Nasi Katok MSN
5. Nasi Katok Ayam Big
6. Nasi Katok Bell
7. Nasi Katok Mesreee
8. Nasi Katok 25 Jam
9. Nasi Katok “Inda Menyasal Membali”
10. Nasi Katok Just Do It
11. Nasi Katok Traffic Light
12. Nasi Katok JJ
13. Nasi Katok Extra
Oh please let me know if any of you came across any other names. I would really love to know them all!
All in all, the journey was the best bus ride of my life so far. Ever!
Last night I was one of the millions of the audience/watchers of Anugerah Juara Lagu. To cut the story short, and even shorter………
Congratulations to ZAHID, ADIBAH NOOR & HAZAMI
